Pochettino was reluctantly sacked last week after Spurs failed to turn around their torrid run of form and Jose Mourinho returned to the touchline, as he unexpectedly took over the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
If the move comes to fruition, it is sure to go down as one of the most controversial switches in Premier League history but it remains unlikely at this stage, as the 48-year-old previously said he’d rather work on a farm than manage Arsenal.
Freddie Ljungberg has assumed his role as interim coach and Pochettino joins the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Mikel Arteta in being considered for the job. The Swede is highly regarded by the Gunners will be in charge for the league fixture against Norwich City in the weekend.
The club are in no hurry to name a replacement for Emery and are expected to evaluate their options diligently before making a decision.
