Moonshot Events In MLB The Show 22

Moonshot events are all about power, as players can’t use pitchers rated higher than 64 Overall. Meanwhile, lineups can be stacked with the best players available in MLB The Show 22 and the result of the combination is often a lot of home runs and very high scoring games in the three-inning affairs that constitute Moonshot Event games. It’s a great way for players to pad some offensive statistics with their favorite Diamond Dynasty players and take part in a different type of competitive play than can be found anywhere else in the mode.

Typically, Moonshot events are one of the shorter content offerings in MLB The Show 22, usually lasting for only three or four days over the course of a weekend and giving players a chance to rack up wins against human opponents to earn new packs and a couple of new players at 15 and 20 wins. This time, the developer has made the event over 10 days long, with an accompanying program that will give fans four 99 Overall players with dominant power ratings if they complete it.

Earning Program Stars in the Moonshot Program

Earning wins in the Moonshot event will help players progress on two separate reward paths, each with some good player cards to earn. The first is the standard Events program path, which has rewards at certain win totals that give players new packs, stubs, and players. In the current Moonshot version, players can earn up to four “rewind” player rewards, which are players that were featured in past events in MLB The Show 22. Accumulating 20 wins will result in getting all four rewind packs, and each of the cards can be either sold in the marketplace for a good amount of stubs or applied to the super collections to earn George Brett, Andrew McCutchen, or Jimmy Rollins.

The second path is the Moonshot Program, which rewards players for earning program stars with new packs, items, stubs, and some incredibly powerful hitters. The Moonshot program has a total of 100 program stars, with various ways for fans to earn them and progress through it, including four moments worth five stars each, and two stars awarded for each victory in the Moonshot event.

Get the Best Rewards

Each of the four players can earn in the Moonshot program is loaded with power and are elite Diamond Dynasty players in MLB The Show 22, but they’re also very good overall hitters aside from that. Billy Williams gives fans a lineup option from the left side of the plate with high contact and some pop in the bat, especially against right-handed pitching, while Twins legend Harmon Killebrew is earned at 60 stars and has incredible power to offset mediocre defensive abilities and speed and average contact ratings.

The real prizes in the program are at 90 and 100 stars, starting with Troy Glaus, who brings diamond-level defense at third base or shortstop and is one of the very best hitters in all of Diamond Dynasty against left-handed pitching, making up for less impressive vision and speed. Gary Sheffield, on the other hand, offers maxed out power against both right and left-handed pitching and elite vision and contact to accompany it. He can play third base, but his primary position is right field, and as the fifth-best card in all of Diamond Dynasty right now, he is one of the very best outfielders in MLB The Show 22.

MLB The Show 22 is available on PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
