Brawlout is described as a platform fighter that puts the player in control of a variety of animals who are fighting for the honor of their people, and the game also promises to support up to 8 players in local or online multiplayer. The developer hasn’t specified how many characters will be in the final game, but the trailer features five fighters and each animal is said to have “vastly different combat styles.”
Angry Mob Games’ website claims that while many of the platforming elements were inspired by Super Smash Bros. the combat moves and styles were inspired by more violent fighters like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Angry Mob CEO Bogdan Iliesiu and the game’s website also claim that each character will start out with a set of basic moves that can be developed to add special attacks and new combo options.
This is undoubtedly welcome news to those PS4 and Xbox One owners who have been wanting a decent platform fighter for some time, especially one that features local multiplayer, a thing that is less and less common in this console generation. While Brawlout doesn’t have the luxury of having an cast of lovable characters that everyone’s familiar with like the extensive roster of fighters for Smash Bros., the characters and fighting moves shown in the trailer appear to be delightfully wacky and cartoonishly violent.
Taking all of this into consideration, it probably won’t take too long for some fan to make a video of Brawlout in first person. While gamers will probably have to wait until next year for that to happen, though, they will be able to see Brawlout in action at this year’s EVO, where the developer will be promoting the game with a playable demo at the Indie Showcase.
