Foltynewicz, originally hospitalized Friday, is expected to be released Thursday and miss up to six weeks.

His condition is similar to the one Rays pitcher Alex Cobb suffered from in 2011 when he felt a sensation in his hand and later found out he had a blockage near his ribcage.
The surgery, called a thoracic outlet decompression, is intended to correct the sensation Foltynewicz was feeling in his arm by removing the anterior portion of his first rib on the right side. It was performed by Dr. William Mayfield in Marietta, Ga.
Foltynewicz is 4-6 with a 5.71 ERA in 15 starts this season.
